By Arch Armstrong

Hello Friends. Welcome yet again to the Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park newsletter. This month we have lot of news and stories which I trust you will enjoy reading. Please let me know if you have any comments or if you wish to email me archcup@cscoms.com with some interesting news or ways to help our many friends and guests get more enjoyment out of the fishing or just relaxing at Sunset Point Caravan Park in Karumba where the outback meets the sea. Where big fish roam, where the sun always shines, the beer is always cold, the conversation scintillating, the stories are ever expanded and fun and relaxation are paramount. Mates, you just got to get up here and check it out.
Yes, as I said in the March newsletter. "It is going to be a great year." Mates, April has started with a bang. Check out the the Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park site on the home page and you will see what I mean. Also have a look at the gallery pages under menu button Park and see what some of our guests have been up to. Apart from some superb catches we have been having a lot of fun. I even got out on the water myself for a great days fishing with Kerry D and captain Paul. What a day!! I caught 3 barra and dropped one when it spat the hook. Had to chuck 2 back as just under size but boy, what a lot of fun. As usual, Paul the captain of Kerry D took us to where the big Barras and the racy salmon live and they were there. We caught and kept 8 barras and 1 blue salmon for the day with a magnificent 960 cm Barra catch by Brendan Lew from Townsville. We must have had another 8 strikes. Brendan backed up his Barra carch 5 minutes later with a lovely blue salmon and his dad grabbed a couple of Barras as well. Young Wally ( he is around 83 years) was not going to be left out of the fun and grabbed a very nice Barra also.

And I can tell you folks, we have been getting some great catches of grunter and other species. Bill (above image) (only a part of Bill's catch) has been coming to Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park for quite a few years and he tells me he recently had his best catch ever. And what a nice guy. He gave me a couple of grunter fillets and they just melted in the mouth washed down with a couple of crownies. It just gets better up in the gulf and the Savannah Way. Out in the outback by the sea. So you had better get up here and get a slice of the action. Join in the fun, fabulous fishing, ( some say the best in Australia and one of the best in the world), meet some friends old and new and take in some of what Karumba Point and Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park has to offer. And friends, while you are there make sure you check out our cafe and taste some of our great outback tucker. Try some of our delicious coffees and teas and maybe a pumpkin scone or a pizza that tastes so good it just melts in your mouth. Book for our Friday night meal night and listen to some fine entertainment from Pete and Jude of Denim Blue our live entertainment. Come along on Monday evenings for our happy hour and on Thursday it is a must for the ladies to attend our craft day where you will meet some very nice people and maybe learn something new.
Yes, April is really roaring. The first weekend was the Karumba fishing contest and prior to that was the Normanton fishing contest. Both events were a huge success with some very fine catches and some great prizes won. At Karumba the weigh in was at the Sunset Tavern and I can tell you there was some neck wetting and stories told. Oh! and while I am on the subject of fishing, get yourself on the mailing list for a great newspaper called "Fish and Boat" It comes out every month and if you are into fishing it is a must. The amount of information you get about fishing and anything to do with fishing is priceless. Just send an email to Harold Bligh the Editor and he will gladly arrange a copy to be sent to you. Harold's email is: hbligh@fishandboat.com.au Remember, at Karumba Point you can fish from a boat or straight off the beach. You bring your own boat, hire one, take a charter with Kerry D or as I said, just fish off the beach. Either way you will catch fish. But please book early to avoid disappointment
Look forward to seeing you at Karumba in the near future.
Well that is it again for now. Be alive in 2005. Come on up to Karumba and Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park where the outback meets the sea.

Kind Regards
Arch Armstrong
Oh! And have a good day.
