If you are into fishing or even if you are not, now is a great time to be in Karumba in the Outback by the sea. Not only can you catch some great fish, there are heaps of prizes and the place is really buzzing so come on up for a couple of days, a couple of weeks or a couple of months. We would love to see you and make your stay something to remember.
Maybe you are into bird watching and I don't mean the ones with two legs and no feathers. Check this list of some of the birdlife around the Karumba area. It is a small example of what you can see.
Freckled ducks, orange chat, crimson chats, budgerigars, cockatiels, diamond doves, red-backed kingfishers, spiny cheeked honeyeaters, striped honey eaters, black honey eaters, red-capped robins, flock pigeons, various other types of finches, emu, Australian bush turkey, brolgas, pelicans, herons, eagles, falcons, hawks, black cockatoos, white cockatoos, etc. Mates, Karumba, on the way to Karumba and on the way back you will see some fabulous birdlife and right now and through March and April is the best time to be here for the birds.
Of course around the park we still have our famous Friday night roasts, our weekly craft days, happy hour and the various daily happy hour groups where you just take it easy and enjoy the moment. Don't forget we are 150 yards away from the tavern which has Pubtab, sports TV, tasty tucker and a great atmosphere right on the beach where you can check out those fantastic sunsets over a nice cool drink.
By the way, if you want to come up by bus to Karumba there is a regular service that runs between Cairns and Karumba three return services per week. The route is operated by the Trans North Bus and Coach Company.
The month of February always bring St Valentine's day so in this newsletter I thought you might appreciate a little bit of monologue in that area. A little bit of Aussie sentimentality so to speak. A little bit of the rough tear jerker!!
Not exactly Banjo Patterson but the guy gave it his best shot.
A thought for the day.
Sometimes life's shadows are caused by our standing in our own sunshine.
And friends, if you are not living the life you want you are not living.
So come on up to Karumba and get some of that good living.
Look forward to seeing you up here soon.
