Sunset Caravan Park
Edition 13
By Arch Armstrong

Happy New Year!!

G'day Mates. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to a fabulous year. Friends, it is going to be a big one. And it is going to be a big one at Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park. As usual our staff have been working away making improvements in and around the park while still maintaining the magic that makes Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park what it is. Our mission is to make your stay with us fun, relaxing and enjoyable. We are ready and looking forward to seeing all our previous guests and new ones. If you haven't been to the outback at Karumba right on the sea in the Gulf of Carpentaria and caught a big Barramundi, seen some of our wildlife, taken in the natural beauty of the area, watched the stars at night and taken in the sunny, sunny days and just chilled out with friends old and new then you haven't lived. We have it all at Karumba so come on up.

Mates, as always when I am moving around the country I keep my eyes open for tips, services or products that might help our guests in their travels. Here are a two I have come across. Some of you will know about them and some will not. Never the less, if only one person benefits then it is worth the effort. So here goes.

If you travel with a laptop computer, check out the latest offerings from the telephone companies. You can get internet packages that work from hotspots for example and you don't have to sign your life away for years. Give your local telco a ring and check out what is now on offer.

Other devices that are handy are flash drives. This is basically a small device or external hard drive that you can put in the palm of your hand. It plugs into the USB port of your computer. Very handy little gadget for keeping info or putting those photos on to take back to the family. As long as you can get access to a computer to download from your camera you are in business. These flash drives or memory sticks now go up to 4 gigabytes and that is some storage space. Even on 1 gig you would get all your My Pictures file with room left over. Great way to take all your pics home to show the friends and family.

Now for your computer virus protection. Instead of the ones you have to pay for like Norton and the like, try one called AVG Free and yes it is Free!! Just go to the following website and download it and you are in business. Just go to www.grisoft.com and you will find it there.

Folks some of our guests ask where should we stay on your way up to Karumba. There are several really good parks to stop at on your way up and on the way back. My business partner Keith and I don't normally recommend other parks unless they have a quality and service that is special. These parks meet our criteria. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. They are:

Travel Tip

Travel with a horse An out-of-towner drove his car into a ditch in a desolated area. Luckily, a local farmer came to help with his big strong horse named Buddy. He hitched Buddy up to the car and yelled, "Pull, Nellie, pull!" Buddy didn't move. Then the farmer hollered, "Pull, Buster, pull!" Buddy didn't respond. Once more the farmer commanded, "Pull, Coco, pull!" Nothing. Then the farmer nonchalantly said, "Pull, Buddy, pull!" And the horse easily dragged the car out of the ditch. The motorist was most appreciative and very curious. He asked the farmer why he called his horse by the wrong name three times. "Well... Buddy is blind and if he thought he was the only one pulling, he wouldn't even try!"

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson Camping

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson went on a camping trip. As they lay down for the night, the fire dwindling nearby, Holmes said: "Watson, look up and tell me what you see".

Watson said "I see a fantastic panorama of countless of stars".

Holmes: "And what does that tell you?"

Watson: "Astronomically, it suggests to me that if there are billions of other galaxies that have roughly similar stellar population densities as represented by my view, that, potentially, trillions of planets may be associated with such a galactic and, therefore, stellar population. Allowing for similar chemical distribution throughout the cosmos it may be reasonably implied that life-and possibly intelligent life-may well fill the universe.

Also, being a believer, theologically, it tells me that the vastness of space may be yet another suggestion of the greatness of God and that we are small and insignificant.

Meteorologically, the blackness of the sky and the crispness of the stellar images tells me that there is low humidity and stable air and therefore we are most likely to enjoy a beautiful day tomorrow.

Why? - What does it tell you, Mr. Holmes?"

Holmes: "Someone stole our tent".

Well folks that is it until the next newsletter. Have a great year.
Kindest Regards
Arch Armstrong
Oh! and have a great day!!!
