Hello friends and a big welcome to 11th edition of the Sunset Caravan Park Newsletter. This addition is a triple header which covers July, August and September 2005. May you be informed, entertained and enlightened.
Mates, let me tell you the last couple of months have been all go up here in Sunny Karumba and the Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park. As usual, old friends have returned and new ones have come to see what it is all about. And they have not been disappointed Recently we had to take one guy out by the Flying Doctor to get the smile on his face surgically removed. I believe he returned the next day with 10 of his friends and the Doctor who did the face job!! Now the Doctor and the ten friends have got the same problem and why wouldn't they, when they are having fun in our outback paradise.
The Newbies have been getting a taste of life around Karumba and Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park. More come every year which means we make more new friends and so do they.
Make sure you say hello to our management team of Sue and Keith Frowd
They have plenty of park management experience and will ensure your comfort and needs are met at all times. They are very approachable, so take a bit of time to get to know them and you will be the better for it. And remember, we like feed back, be it positive or negative. Karumba, like the outback is forever changing and growing and this year has been no exception. Access to the area has again been improved. Roads have been improved and access now is really no big deal. The Carpentaria Shire Council and other relevant parties need a pat on the back for the work they have done here over the last couple of years. The word is out that the road to Burketown is going to be sealed soon which opens up another new horizon. However the outback is still the outback and will always retain it's antiquity, beauty and mystery and long may that last as this is one of the reasons we all come to the outback by the sea. Some of the local buzz is that investigations are underway to get continued water supply to the golf course to make it green all year round and I am also told by the grapevine that a bowling green is also on the cards. New tours are being developed with more thing to see and do. It's going to be bigger than Ben Hur or the Gas Works!! Remember folks, Karumba is not just about fishing ( although probably is the best in Australia) Click Here. it is also about letting go of that stress, breathing in that clean fresh air, (there ain't no smog up here mates) enjoying a quite beer with old friends and new, checking out those millions of stars that hang over Karumba just about every night, taking in the spectacle of a morning glory in full flight, entwining with Mother Nature, checking out the animal and prolific bird life or catching a crab or two, a giant Barramundi and in the green season being able to take in the fantastic changes that occur. Seeing the result of those changes is remarkable to say the least. Click here. Click here. Click here. And remember some of the best fishing is had in Feb, March and April and the best weather month is October. Of course we catch fish all year round. So consider coming a bit earlier or a bit later, you will not be disappointed. Mates, you have to see it to believe it so get up here. And did you know that Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park is the only caravan park right on the coast West of Cairns along the coast right up to Darwin. Yes, that's right folks, the only one and we are only 100 metres to to the sea.
Every now and then I come across a bit of info that I think might interest our readers and so here are some statistics I picked up recently. They are from the people who do this sort of thing in Australia. People like Demographers!! Yep! I had to look that one up myself to see what it was. To tell you the truth I was completely discombobulated and not a little confused!! Anyway for the sake of understanding I believe it is someone who measures vital statistics of social patterns and behaviour. However, I digress. Anyway what these guys say is interesting and worth some thought. Here are some of those statistics. Currently there is 325,000 caravans registered in Australia. Over 80,000 caravan travelers are on the road every day. Our Demographer friend predicts that over the next 10 years this will grow to 4.1 million and this will be caused by the Baby Boomers chucking their jobs in and hitting the road to follow the sun. There is a caravan built in Australia every 14 minutes. The industry turns over 10 billion per year and is growing rapidly. Just on 86% of Australians have gone caravanning at some time in their lives. So folks, get those reservations in early at Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park to avoid disappointment. We take bookings up to one year ahead and you can easily make a booking by email, fax or phone. You can even mail us at Po Box 61 Karumba. Now friends, more than half the year has gone and October is just around the corner, the best weather month of the year, around 27 degrees every day. The fish are still biting, the pub is open and serves cold beer and good grub.So if you can handle that with spectacular Morning Glories, starry nights, total relaxation with and fun with friends then get in the rig and remove yourself from those cold days, the hustle and bustle and get up here. Just do it!! I will look forward to seeing you here.
Well that's it friends. The sum total of my bush philosophy for now.
Hope to see you up here soon.
Best Regards
Arch Armstrong
Oh!! And have a good day!!
