Sunset Caravan Park
Edition 9
By Arch Armstrong

G'Day Mates!!

Welcome to the May 2005 Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park Newsletter edition number 9.

April is gone and what a month it was. Most of our old friends were returning to the friendly atmosphere of the Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park and some new guests have come on up to say hello. With the Friday night roasts, the free sausage sizzle, the happy hours, the craft days and the great fishing contest in the early part of April has made April a fun month and May is looking like being just as good if not better. So come up or over from where ever you may be and take in some of the clean fresh air, cloudless skies, no rain and cold, just great days with starry, starry nights. Check out the great fishing, the local bird and animal life. See what the outback by the sea is really like. Come on up with a mate and just enjoy the fun.

Fishing.

What can you say about fishing in Karumba. Mates, it has got to be the best fishing spot in Australia and one of the best in the world. In April we caught so many good catches and superb sized fish one sometimes wonders if it can get any better. Yet then you hear stories like from Bill Stoleberg who has been coming to Karumba for quite a few years. He recently told me he had his best catch of grunter he has ever had. Check him out on the Gallery Pages on the Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park website www.sunsetcp.com.au standing with his wife Fay with part of his catch. The catch was in April and we still can't get the smile off his face. Have a look at Kev the Crabman on the home page of the website with his huge Barramundi and his dear wife Jan the Crablady with her great Barramundi. Already in May we have had Richard Hermassoo with a superb Spanish Mackerel and Jan Hermassoo in April with a magnificent Barramundi. Angie Favetti hauled in a 40lb Black King in May and Merv Bunter got a 107cm Barramundi also in May and there is a lot more of the month to go yet.

Just have a look on the website and see all the action. Tell your friends about Karumba Point and Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park so they can come up and enjoy some of what is on offer. Tell them to have a look at the Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park website www.sunsetcp.com.au and get a feel for what it is all about. Tell them to get onto this newsletter so they can keep up with what is happening. Have a look at the website on the 2nd gallery page to see the mums on Mother's day. Maybe you will see your mum.

The Park.

Our staff at the park continue to work hard to make your stay a pleasant one. We have made improvements in our amenities blocks, changes to our camp kitchen, planted more trees, made menu changes in the cafe, and a lot more to make your stay a happy, enjoyable, relaxing and entertaining . We are getting some great feed back and compliments so it must be working. Come on up and see for yourself. See what all the fuss is about. Come on up and have a look at probably the most famous caravan park in Australia today. Why not come up in May. Just get in your caravan and come on up. Just give us ring or an email and we will book you in. If you don't know the way just check the website on the home page, click park and then how to get there and it will direct you. It's as easy as that.

I was asked not long ago why people liked to fish. I guess there are many reasons and maybe this is one of them.

I really don't know why it is all of us are so committed to the sea, except I think it is because in addition to the fact that the sea changes, and the light changes, and ships change, it's because we all come from the sea. And it is an interesting biological fact all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, our sweat and in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it or fish in it, we are going back from whence we came.

A few thoughts for the month.

There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone linesman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process.

Give a man a fish and he has food for a day; teach him to fish and you get rid of him for the entire weekend.

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore looking like an idiot.

Give a man a fish, and you will feed him for a day; give him a religion, and he'll starve to death while praying for a fish.

Three fourths of the Earth's surface is covered in water, and one fourth is land. It is quite clear the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

If you have short, stubby fingers and wear reading glasses, any relaxation you would normally derive from fly fishing is completely eliminated when you try to tie on a fly.

Well Mates, that is it for this month. Hope to see you at Karumba and the Karumba Point Sunset Caravan Park real soon.

Kind Regards
Arch Armstrong

Oh! And have a good day.
